InsCipher Meets with SLTX Leadership to Support Texas Surplus Lines Compliance

InsCipher recently met with the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) leadership team at their Austin headquarters for a focused discussion on Texas surplus lines tax compliance, regulatory alignment, and industry collaboration. The meeting centered on Texas surplus lines tax filing requirements, reporting expectations, and maintaining accuracy in an evolving regulatory environment.
Representing InsCipher were Lara York, Vice President of Tax Compliance; Jen Barnes, Senior Product Owner; Wendi Lee, Learning and Development Manager; and Becky Farthing, Compliance Officer.
A Shared Commitment to Compliance
The meeting provided an opportunity to share how InsCipher supports surplus lines brokers operating in Texas and across the country. Our team provided an overview of our organization, the brokers we partner with, and the systems and processes we use to support accurate surplus lines tax filings and regulatory reporting.
The discussion included our approach to Texas risk filings, surplus lines tax calculations, and the internal controls that help ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state requirements. As filing complexity continues to increase nationwide, maintaining consistency in interpretation and execution remains a priority.
SLTX leadership provided valuable insight into the role of the stamping office within the Texas regulatory framework. The conversation highlighted the importance of the stamping office’s oversight responsibilities and its role in maintaining the integrity of surplus lines reporting within the state.
Collaboration Strengthens the Regulatory Framework
Open dialogue between service providers and stamping offices plays an important role in supporting compliant surplus lines activity. Meetings like this allow for clarification of expectations, alignment on evolving processes, and continued education across stakeholders.
Texas remains one of the most active surplus lines markets in the country. As surplus lines tax reporting volume and regulatory demands grow, collaboration between regulators, stamping offices, brokers, and service providers becomes increasingly important.
InsCipher values the opportunity to engage directly with SLTX and appreciates their time and perspective. We remain committed to supporting compliant surplus lines tax reporting in Texas through ongoing education, operational discipline, and proactive adaptation to regulatory developments.
